Inside Shooting Techniques With Ryan Powell

Inside Shooting Tips Shooting accurately when you are up close to the goal is a crucially important skill for any lacrosse attackman. Being able to shoot hard and fast from outside is only one part of being a great attacker. When you are shooting inside, pinpoint accuracy and the ability to second-guess the goalie is a skill which takes practice, but will pay dividends to your goal tally.

In this video MLL star Ryan Powell takes you through several key aspects of inside shooting. He makes the point that even players who don't have a hard shot can still be highly effective goal scorers by following a few simple rules. Ryan explains the importance of checking out the goalie before the game to find out if he is left or right handed, so you know just where to place the shot for best effect.

He also demonstrates his ‘X-fake’ technique and explains why it is important to always fake in one direction and to shoot the opposite. Finally he explains how to get one-on-one by getting a great angle on the stick to reach out around the goalie.
